Curly Girls Philippines First Meetup

 

After sharing my CGM journey on my previous post, The Curly Girl Method Made Me Love My Hair More, I intend to convince you further that curly hair is as natural as any other hair types. But it requires a different set of ingredients and a different set of tender loving care or TLC routine.

More and more women are breaking the barriers of product development and advertising. More and more are also embracing their natural hair especially in the Philippines.

It’s good to watch demo videos of curly girl methods. But based on experience, most featured CG approved products and hair maintenance tools are not available locally. And even if these are, it might not be suitable for the type of climate that we have.

To excite you more in joining this community, here’s a glimpse of our first ever meetup last March 24, 2019.

 

Can you imagine how it felt like to be in a room full of curlies? Well, for us, it’s about shouting “Hello”, “Hi” and “Ang ganda ng hair moooooo!” to every person that will step into the room. Everyone’s warm and welcoming.

Curly Girls Philippines Founder, Ms. Ria Fernandez welcomed everyone, made an effort to visit every table and shared some tips and tricks to keep your curls healthy and beautiful. Ms. Ria is an epitome of CGM perfection!

There was never a dull moment throughout the event because everyone seems to be enjoying each other’s company. Earlier that afternoon, the fast food crew even asked us if we are holding a reunion. We answered, “Wala ka bang nakikitang something in common?” and ended up flipping our hair.

Information was free-flowing! We flaunted our curly girl faces undergoing different phases in this journey. Look at this root lift demo by empowered curly and blogger @curlsofchrissy. She is also the founder of @simplycurlyph of Instagram. One of the best sources of curly girl approved products.

The event was also blessed by the generosity of our Founder Ms. Ria and other sponsors who raffled off curly girl products and accessories. I am pretty sure everyone felt my energy and saw me attracting blessings on my side – as I always do when I join a raffle. I kept saying “Number 3” from the start of the raffle but it seems that luck wasn’t on my side.

 

Luck was not on my side – yet. Because for the grand prize, a thundering noise was heard and I couldn’t even shout “Number 3” anymore for it has been called. Law of Attraction has always been my SECRET!
